The train checking staff of Guwahati Railway Police on Monday seized 45 kilos of suspected marijuana worth Rs 5 lakhs and apprehended a man and a woman in relation to the case.
The duo has been identified as Wabor Kharpuri Synrem and Darisha Synrem.
Both the apprehendees were travelling in Rajdhani Express, train no -12423.
According to official sources, they came from Meghalaya by taxi carrying the 45 kg suspected marijuana and boarded at Rajdhani Express train at Guwahati Railway Station to go to New Delhi.
A case is being registered against the two alleged smugglers under the NDPS Act.
The Government Railway Police, abbreviated as GRP, is the police force of the Indian Railways. It was established by the Railways Act, 1989, of the Parliament of India. Its duties correspond to those of the District Police in the areas under their jurisdiction, such as patrolling, but only on railway property.
