GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) has deployed 21 Covid care isolation coaches at the Guwahati Railway Station to facilitate treatment to COVID-19 patients.

These Covid care isolation coaches are equipped with essential medical facilities which can provide necessary medical aid to patients infected with the deadly coronavirus.

On the other hand, another 20 rail coaches, which will work as Covid Care Centres, have been deployed at Guwahati, Badarpur, Lumding, Tinsukia and Bongaigaon railway stations. These coaches are equipped with 350 oxygen beds.

Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in Assam, the state has been facing immense shortage of hospital beds to accommodate COVID-19 patients.

On Wednesday, the Assam government had urged the NF Railways to prepare 150 Covid Care Coaches at various locations across the state.
