The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Hailakandi has asked the people not to panic in the light of the cyclonic storm Fani.
Additional Deputy Commissioner and Chief Electoral Officer, DDMA, EL Faihriem said as per information received from the State Emergency Operation Centre, Assam there is a chance of light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya on May 4 and 5.
It may be noted that a letter from the Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO, DDMA, Cachar on May 2 got viral in the social media and caused panic among the people of Hailakandi district regarding cyclonic storm Fani.
CEO, DDMA, Hailakandi, Faihriem said while there is no reason to panic, the people, however, must be on alert during the said period and adopt safety measures as 'direction of the storm changes frequently'. The CEO also urged everyone to desist from spreading rumour in any social media platform.
