Along with the rest of the country, India’s 70th Republic Day was also celebrated in Tinsukia district of Assam with much pomp and splendour.
Assam’s Social Welfare Minister Pamila Rani Brahma was the Chief Guest at the event organized by Tinsukia authorities at the IGI playground.
When asked about the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 by media persons, Brahma told the people to have faith in the Chief Minister as he has promised not to let any harm befall them.
"He (CM Sonowal) has said that the interests of the people of the state shall not be harmed. And he had also said that misinformation has been spread about the Bill. He has taken a step in the right direction and we are in lockstep with him", stated the Minister.
