‘Dhing Express’ Hima Das skipped the 4th Grand Prix and is now uncertain for the Doha Asian Athletic Championship. After an eight week layoff due to examinations, she is trying to come back into shape. To quell concerns about the sprint star’s loss of form, her Coach Gelina Bukharina said: “ Hima Das needs to start from scratch. I know she jumped too high in terms of timing according to her age and there were expectations from her. To stay at this height, she needs one or two years of practice again and will have to start from scratch.”
It is to be mentioned that in her first race back from the layoff, Hima finished 4th in the Indian Grand Prix in underwhelming 55.19 seconds. Hima, who has a personal best of 50.79 seconds, won silver at the Asian Games held at Jakarta.
