KMSS Chief Akhil Gogoi on Monday mocked Assam’s Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his inability to secure a Lok Sabha ticket and mock-lamented the Minister’s apparent misfortune.
Taking digs at his bête noire, Biswa Sarma, Gogoi said: “After coming back from Kokrajhar, I saw Himanta sitting dejectedly next to BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav. We should mock not a person who is down on his luck, but since Himanta Biswa Sarma himself mocks his opponents, we have to be hard on him. He is, in fact, a weapon to carry out illegal affairs under the various administrations. In the days of the Congress, he was a weapon and now, after all these years, he still maintains the same position in the BJP.”
Gogoi also alleged that Ramen Deka and Bijoya Chakraborty were seen to be similarly dejected on television channels after being denied tickets to contest the elections. “It is most unfortunate that he has been publicly humiliated by the BJP and his active involvement in the BJP election campaign shows how shameless of a person he is", he said.
