Himanta Biswa Sarma claims ULFA behind Citizenship Bill protests

Guwahati, February 1, 2019:

Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday made a shocking statement against the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

Sarma alleged that somewhere ULFA is giving direction to the people of Assam to stage protest against Citizenship Bill. Sharma added, “Being in the government, we also know which Journalist receives a call from outside and which organization is involved in what matters. Who is taking out rallies in Tinsukia, we all are well aware of that. The ULFA is playing a major role in these protests.”

“There are genuine protests in the Upper Assam, but in lower Assam, especially in Barpeta, Rangia, etc. the people are unaware of the fact.”

It may be mentioned that Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is adamant over passing the Citizenship Bill and was seen to make controversial statements in the last few days.
