Himanta Biswa Sarma is the new Jinnah of Assam: Pradyut Bordoloi

Guwahati, January 18, 2019:

All India Congress Committee Secretary Pradyut Bordoloi on Friday alleged that Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is the new Jinnah of Assam.

Addressing the media, Bordoloi said, “The intention of the RSS to increase Hindu population in Assam has led to the rise of a new Jinnah who is none other than Himanta Biswa Sarma. Suddenly, he has become a worshipper of Muhammad Ali Jinnah to amend the Citizenship Bill. Nobody has ever tried to separate Hindu-Muslim for political benefits in the history of Assam apart from him, so we have declared him Jinnah in Assam as Jinnah propounded the two-nation theory during the Indo- Pak separation. Himanta Biswa Sarma has become such a Hindutwabadi politician that he will even surpass Sakhshi Maharaj and Yogi Aditya Nath. So he is now following the political policy of Hindu-Muslim.”

Alleging that Himanta is a betrayer who is finding ways to remove Sarbananda Sonowal from the throne and acquire the CM’s position, he added, “Himanta is doing all this just to satisfy the BJP and RSS. There is an internal competition between Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma to prove who is more hindutwabadi to gain favour of BJP President Amit Shah as both are running after power.”

“By doing this they are spreading rumours that the Mairabari Satra has been shifted only because of the Muslims residing in there while even the Satradhikar has protested over the statement. The communal politicians like Himanta have forgotten that there exists Satara Satra in Darang where the foundation stone was laid by a Muslim and both Hindus and Muslims follow their own rituals in that satra,” he added.

Moreover, Bordoloi said, “Those politician and MLAs who have their own political agenda cannot stand for the people of Assam straightening their backbone. This has been proved very well by now. Neither Sarbananda Sonowal now Himanta Biswa Sarma is capable of protecting the interests of Assam because they do not possess the pride of being “Axomiya” that Lachit Borphukan has. They can do anything to fulfil their agendas.”

He added, “Now to justify the Citizenship Bill, many BJP leaders have said that since 2014, the BJP party have 27 lakh members and we all know that happened only after they introduced the system of giving miscall to a particular toll free number where the caller gets registered as a member of the party.”

He further appealed to all BJP members who are frustrated by the party’s policy, to clear their stand against the Bill and promised to give a toll free number to register against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016
