GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today jokingly said that he wishes to know what kind of vitamins the doctors of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) had administered for him to have a spring in his steps after being acquitted by an NIA Court.
“I have asked the GMCH doctors how a person that they said was so ill is suddenly so active. I have asked the doctors -- a poor person was deprived in a paying cabin. One after the other disease he had --- today fistula, tomorrow piles, the day after psychiatrically upset. He had certificates for 12 diseases and now he is roaming around,” Sarma said in front
Asked if there will be an inquiry about this, Sarma said that won't be the case adding that “no political difference should be brought to a personal level.”
“However, we see criminals and accused persons sitting in hospitals and are miraculously cured on the day they get bail. If we get to know what this vitamin is, we will also be benefitted,” Sarma said, half-jokingly.

According to the top brass at the GMCH, however, Akhil Gogoi had left the hospital ignoring doctor’s advice.
This was claimed by the Superintendent of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Abhijit Sarma.
GMCH Superintendent Abhijit Sharma in a letter to the Assam Home Department wrote: “…I would like to inform you that Shri Akhil Gogoi has left the hospital against medical advice signing the release from responsibility for discharge.”
Akhil Gogoi, who was arrested under stringent UAPA by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with anti-CAA protest in December 2019, on Thursday afternoon, walked out of jail.
The firebrand leader, who won the Assam Assembly Election from Sivasagar constituency by a margin of over 11,000 votes, walked free, hours after a special NIA court cleared him in a pending case.
