Guwahati, March 24, 2019:

The verbal war of words between Assam’s Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and three-time former CM Tarun Gogoi has shown no signs of stopping as Gogoi again launched into a scathing attack on his former aide in an exclusive interview with InsideNE.

Responding to Biswa Sarma’s recent remark in Bokakhat where he said that he does not know any Gaurav Gogoi, the former CM said: “He (Biswa Sarma) considers himself to be a great man, so he does not bother about Gaurav Gogoi, so let him ignore. Before Gaurav was an MP, he (Biswa Sarma) knew Gaurav as my son. That means he thinks he is too big – bigger than Amit Shah, bigger than Modi. Even Modi and Shah know my son’s name. He gives the impression that he does not know, so he is showing that he is much bigger than anybody else. He is nothing.”

Gogoi also alleged that Biswa Sarma’s current political standing with the BJP is in “bad shape.” “Had he (Biswa Sarma) decided to fight from Jorhat, I would have fought against him.”

Tarun Gogoi further alleged that that Amit Shah’s justification for omitting Himanta’s name from the Lok Sabha candidate list is a “lame excuse”.
