Guwahati, March 8, 2019:

At a time when communal tensions are at an all-time high, it is indeed heartening to see people showing generosity towards those from other faiths.

In such an example of amity and brotherhood, a Hindu family from Assam's Lakhimpur district has donated a plot of land for a Muslim burial ground.

In a great show of religious solidarity, the family members of the late Karunakanta Bhuyan of Garehaga donated the land measuring 1 bigha 2 katha and 19 lechas to Nahar Pukhuri Kabarstan situated near North Lakhimpur railway station.

This is all the more impressive as the Kabarstan shares a boundary with a Hindu crematorium ground.

The Kabarstan Committee felicitated the family members of Bhuyan for their act of charity.

These acts can re-affirm our belief in humanity which already stands on a thin edge as we have seen dastardly acts of violence and communalism such as the instance of a Muslim man being beaten up for allegedly selling beef.
