Assam: Thieves caught looting historic Dhubri Ganesh Akhara temple on camera

DHUBRI: A gang of two members in the wee hours of Saturday broke into the historic Ganesh Akhara temple in Gauripur in Dhubri district of Assam and decamped with valuable materials, ornaments from the idol of Ganesh including donation money.

The entire incident of thieves entering the historic temple from behind and robbing was captured in CCTV cameras installed in the temple.

The incident resulted in the theft of two gold tips, cash, and other valuables.

The incident was reported to police by the temple priest on Saturday morning, along with CCTV footage.

Investigation on the matter is underway however, no arrests have been made by police as of the filing of this report.

Gauripur Police, however, assured that the thieves will be behind the bar very soon and they will recover all the robbed items.
