Guwahati, March 2, 2018:

Holi was celebrated with much fanfare and enthusiasm across Assam on Thursday and Friday.

The festival of colors signifies fun-filled camaraderie, in which all sections of people come together to celebrate.

Holi enthusiasts came on to the streets smearing colors on each other’s faces and exchanging Holi greetings.

People also visited their near and dear one for celebrating the festival and community feasting. The festival also has a religious side, where people visit temples and organize Holi-geet programmes offering abir to the revered deity.

Doul Utsav was organized in sattra institutions and Vaishnavite temples of the State. Seeking blessings from the elders is also integral to the festival.

Along with the rest of the State, Guwahati too had a fair share of festivities.
