Houses burned down in Assam's Titabor over feud between locals

Guwahati, February 6, 2019:

A situation of chaos has erupted today in Jorhat district's Titabor where a house of a person named Biru Barman was burned down after he had allegedly attacked Shankar Barman, a resident of Titabor.

The incident took place in Vrindavanpur Tea Garden in Titabor where Barman, who had occupied a piece of public land, attacked Shankar Barman, a local of the area. Shankar has been rushed to Jorhat Medical College with severe injuries.

Outraged over the attack, the locals burned down Biru’s house and also destroyed his sister’s house who was living nearby. However, the Titabor police have taken the situation under control.

Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Biru, who has been absconding since the incident, is yet to be ascertained.
