Guwahati, August 31, 2019:

The much-awaited final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will be published later today, amid heightened security.

For the people who want to check their names in this 'definitive document of citizenship', here is how it can be done:

The final list will be published online on the official website of Assam NRC - nrcassam.nic.in - but you can also check them by visiting your respective NRC Sewa Kendra. Apart from the official website, you can also check your names on assam.mygov.in.

It may be mentioned here that as many as 40 lakh applicants found their names excluded, out of the 3.29 crore registered names in the final draft. A total of 36.2 lakh had claimed inclusion in the final draft of Assam NRC.

To check the result online, first, one has to visit the official site nrcassam.nic.in. Then, one must click on the tab which says 'complete draft NRC is now active'. Then, a person must enter the ARN to check your name (the ARN number is printed on the front page of your NRC form). Then, the applicant must enter the CAPTCHA code and hit on search. The name of the person, if included in the NRC list, would be displayed on the screen.
