UDALGURI: Ahead of the assembly polls in Assam, Chirang police today recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in the Chirang reserve forest in Assam’s Udalguri district.
"The recovered cache includes one factory-made AK Series rifle, and magazine, three factory-made 7.65 mm pistol, and magazine, 90 rounds AK series live ammunition, five rounds of 9 mm Live ammunition, and three rounds of 7.65 Live ammunition," an official release stated.

"This cache has been recovered after rigorous search operation conducted by Chirang Police led by additional SP (Hq), assisted by Circle Inspector (CI) Runikhata and Officer in charge (OC) Runikhata PS against illegal weapons (abuse and stockpiling) inside the Chirang Reserve Forest located at the Western side of village in Udalguri under Runikhata police station," the release further added.
