GUWAHATI: The United States based Indian Doctors Association has provided essential medical equipment to the Health Department of Assam with the help of Red Cross Society, Guwahati Branch today to help in the government's battle with the cOVID-19.
Dr. Zaman, Consultant of National Health Mission, Assam has received the package of materials officially on behalf of the Assam government.
The material package provided by the IDA, Houston comprised of four ventilators as well as 5,000 units of yellow aprons, 300 overall, 250 face shields, 6,000 KN95 face masks and 10,000 head caps.
Two packages with medical equipment were dispatched to the medical college and hospitals in Jorhat and Tezpur as well, Absar Hazarika, Chairman of Red Cross Society, Guwahati informed.

"This is the first Red Cross Hospital in Northeast. Though we have been non-functional for a while due to some infrastructural issues in between, we have started operating from October last year, and today we are happy to be a part of this good cause," said Absar Hazarika.
"Red Cross Hospital will continue its effort to extend all possible support to the health department of Assam in its fight against COVID-19," Hazarika further added.
Dr. Zaman also expressed his gratitude towards IDA and the Red Cross Society on behalf of the NHM for their aid in such a critical time.
"Assam is doing comparatively good in its fight against COVID-19 and as experts have warned about a third wave any sooner by the Delta variant of the virus, we will kickstart vaccination drive for kids below 18 years in next 10 to 12 days," said Dr. Zaman.
