Information of abrogation Article 371 in the North East is irrelevant: DoNER Minister

Guwahati, September 4, 2019:

Information on abrogation of Article 371 in the North East is irrelevant. Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, North East India MDoNER Dr. Jitendra Singh said that some mischievous elements have been trying to spread such sort of information to mislead the people with some political interest.

He added, “Article 371 itself says I’m temporary in the Constitution. There is no similarity between 370 and 371. The government is not going through a numerical process of abrogation of the articles. Abrogation of Article 370 does imply that Article 371 will be abrogated.”

“The initiative of the concept of ‘One Nation, One Constitution’ came up only because Jammu and Kashmir had a different constitution. With this initiative, we are planning to give opportunities to J&K as the Northeastern states of the country,” he added.

It is to be mentioned that Article 370 has been abrogated from Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir and have been given the status of Union Territory the Central government.
