Investigation begins in Assam's worst spurious liquor tragedy

Guwahati, February 28, 2019:

A team of all-party representatives will visit Golaghat on Thursday to investigate the spurious liquor tragedy of Assam in which 185 people lost their lives after drinking spurious liquor in the Assam districts of Jorhat and Golaghat. The team has been appointed by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to investigate the matter further.

Meanwhile, the Upper Assam Commissioner, Julie Sonowal is undertaking a rigorous public hearing since 10:00 am in the morning at Golaghat’s Circuit House. The hearing will continue till 3:00 pm and different organizations, as well as the victim’s family members, can visit the commissioner to register their statement.

It is to be mentioned that the hooch tragedy in the state is the worst bootleg liquor tragedy in the country.
