Jahnu Barua Condemns Chinese President Xi Jinping for COVID-19 Outbreak

Mumbai, March 31, 2020:

Jahnu Barua, one of Assam’s foremost filmmakers has said that the coronavirus that has infected at least 7 lakh people across the world, could have been averted if Chinese President Xi Jinping had alerted the world to the impending disaster, when the virus first made its presence felt in Wuhan, China.

Jahnu Barua, in a video post, commends Xi for being the rules of one of the world’s most powerful countries, but chides him for recklessness on the part of the Chinese to alert the world community about the impending disaster of catastrophic proportions. “Dear President Xi Jinping, the world knows that you are the head of the most powerful country in the world, and your sole ambition is to rule world”, Barua says, hinting at Xi’s alleged “dictatorial” tendencies.

“Let us talk about the coronavirus, I believe you were informed about the coronavirus during the outbreak in Wuhan many weeks before the rest of the world. You were also surely informed about how dangerous and deadly this virus was, and yet you never cared to share this information with the world, rather you covered it up”, Barua says, chiding the Chinese President for “hiding” the virus from the world.

“Is this the way you want to conquer the world?”, Barua asks. Terming Xi as a “super political dictator”, Jahnu Barua adds that Xi lacks “humanity”.

At the same time, Ninong Ering, a legislator has also lashed out at the Chinese for their alleged "bio warfare". In a letter to the Minister of External Affairs, Ering wrote, "When the entire world was looking to progress further in 2020, reliable media reports suggest that China has unleashed a bio-warfare program of Wuhan Corona Virus and put world peace and security at the greatest threat."

Urging the Indian Government to seek "compensation" from China, Ering further wrote, "The whole of the world is under lockdown now and it has crumbled the global economies including our country. Therefore, the Government of India must put up a case in the International forums like ICJ against China for bio war and ask for compensation to the tune of 22 Billion USD. India must unite with other nations on this and also demand an international investigation on Wuhan Corona Virus in China so that our future generations are safe from any such incidents."
