At a time when the entire world is feeling the effects of the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus (or COVID-19), there are some who have emerged as heroes in this crisis to allay the problems faced by the common man. This is the story of one such man from Assam's Jorhat a cop named Ujjal Goswami, who helped a commoner in a time of great distress.

However, despite the person's deteriorating health, nobody tried to help him due to the fear of the coronavirus, which is said to transmit via person-to-person contact. When things were starting to look really very bleak, Bhugdoi Police Station in-charge Ujjal Goswami became the sick man's knight in shining armor and promptly shifted the ailing man to the Jorhat Medical College for his health evaluation. The police's own vehicle was used for the purpose of shifting him as no ambulance could be arranged. Upon assessment, the health personnel came to the conclusion that the man had fallen ill due to hypertension. One of the locals of Jorhat town have informed Inside Northeast that the man is now showing signs of recovery.

Talking to Inside Northeast, Goswami said, "Nobody wanted to touch him. No ambulance came. He was a poor man, and would have died, if he had not been taken to the hospital.
