GUWAHATI: Amid the election fever in Assam, Haflong child prodigy Kalmawizo Hmar's rendition of the Assamese anthem (O Mur Apunar Dexh) is winning the internet, having racked up thousands on Youtube.

Her latest video, uploaded on March 8, shows the young crooner singing the anthem while wearing traditional dresses -- such as the Assamese mekhela chadar.

For the uninitiated, the Assamese anthem was written by Lakshminath Bezbarua and attuned by Kamala Prasad Agarwala.

The song itself is from among the finest poems created by Laxminath Bezbaroa. It was first published in 1909 in an Assamese magazine named 'Bahi.'

In the description section of the video, Hmar wrote, "A land with rich heritage and diversified with different cultures and traditions, that's the beauty of my state Assam. With different cultural and religious beliefs people here lives together with love and unity.Let us always try to preserve the rich heritage of our state and let love, peace and unity always binds us together (sic)"

Hmar, who hails from the hill town of Haflong in Dima Hasao, is known for her powerful voice and was previously known for her rendition of 'Kesari' song 'Teri Mitti', which garnered over 7 lakh views.

"I will look toward your voice in the future," wrote one user, while another said, "Love you little angel 😇 words are not enough to express ur talent and skills."

Earlier, another tiny tot -- Esther Hnamte from Mizoram -- had earned rave reviews for her soaring rendition of 'Vande Mataram', which even caught the attention of A R Rahman, the composer.
