The Kamakhya Devalaya may not be reopened for the devotees soon. The date for reopening of the temple is yet to be ascertained. However, there is a likelihood of it reopening after 15 days.

This was informed by the temple authorities today, adding that the temple can be opened only after the COVID-19 infrastructure work is complete, which will start from tomorrow.

However, even after the immensely popular temple reopens, the devotees, per day limit of whom has been fixed at 500, wouldn’t be able to pay obeisance to Goddess Kamakhya. They would be, nonetheless, allowed to enter the temple premises and circumambulate the holy temple.

Only the devotees who have underwent the COVID-19 test on them would be allowed to enter the temple premisis. The entry rules will be the same for all, including VIP and VVIP.

However, marriages and Pujas will be allowed to be performed, the authorities informed.
