GUWAHATI: Biswajit Pegu, the Deputy Commissioner Kamrup (M), today issued protocols to be followed in the district during the ensuing elections in the state.
Pegu, addressing newsmen earlier today, said that several new measures shall be introduced during the polls this year keeping in view the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
"As per guidelines, not more than 1,000 voters will be allowed at a voting booth at any given time. As such, an additional 503 centers will be opened for voting," informed Pegu.
This time around, the all-women voting centers shall also been increased from 60 to 120. 18 model polling stations will be set up in Kamrup (M), the DC added.
Pegu further informed that the administration has issued two helpline numbers for citizens to raise any complaint related to the polling process.
The complaint numbers for Kamurp (M) are 03613517412 and 03613517402, said Pegu.

As per the guidelines, only two additional supporters shall be allowed to accompany the eligible aspirants to submit their candidature.
"Additionally, for door-to-door campaigning, only 5 people will be allowed keeping the circumstances in view," Pegu added.
Candidates can take the necessary permission for campaigning through the 'Subidha App' that is available as a free download on the Google Playstore.
Candidates can spend a total of Rs. 30 lakhs for campaigning, maximum of Rs. 10,000 per day.
All officers and workers involved in election work will have to take the Covid-19 vaccine mandatorily, informed Pegu.
Pegu informed that disabled people, citizens above 80 years, Covid-19 positive patients, and hospitalized patients can cast their votes through postal ballot.
