Guwahati, September 9, 2019:

Assam's musical heartthrob Zubeen Garg's cinematic offering, 'Kanchanjangha', has set the cash registers ringing in Assam after its first day of release. The film, which is expected to revive the ailing Assamese movie industry, managed to register a hefty sum of Rupees forty lakhs during its first day of release.

Informing this via his official Twitter handle, Zubeen said that it has collected more than his last high-profile release, 'Mission China', which currently stands as the highest-grossing Assamese movie of all time.

Meanwhile, controversy swirls around the movie, and incidents of violence have also been reported from several parts of the state. Urging his fans not to attack anyone over disagreements regarding the movie, Zubeen wrote on Facebook, "Kanchanjangha is for everyone now. I urge my fans not to attack anyone personally who is putting a genuine constructive criticism about the film. I spread love not hatred."

Meanwhile, the film was also recorded by miscreants and was being distributed online. This incidence of piracy has drawn the wrath of Zubeen himself, who has issued warnings to the online pirates.

It may be mentioned here that Zubeen's Kanchanjangha details the struggle of the protagonist, a young man called Anirban, against 'the system'.
