Karbi Anglong: Forest officials undertake operation, seize illegal Mine tools

Guwahati, December 30, 2018:

A team of forest officials seized some mining tools from an illegal coal mining site carried out at Karbi Anglong'sKlurdung Mala Terang village under Bakalia Range on Saturday.

The Karbi Anglong Forest West Division DFO Jaysing Bey, ACF Horinat Ronghang Bakalia Range, Ranger Dividiadhar Syam Central Range west Division and his official took measures and went to the spot and seized the mining materials. They recovered 6 excavators; 200 liters total 8 syntax and excavator key.

Commenting on the situation, KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang said that illegal coal mafia members must be arrested. The CEM also added that that the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council can't compromise for illegal activists. The crackdown on illegal coal mining has begun since the mine mishap in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills where upto 18 miners are feared trapped in a flooded illegal 'rat-hole' mine.
