Karbi bodies demand deletion of non-tribal voters from KAAC voters’ list

Diphu, October 5, 2018:

Over 24 organisations carried out a mass demonstration on Friday at Ru-Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park in Diphu demanding deletion of non-tribal voters from the voters’ list of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).

The chairman of these organisations Jones Ingti Kathar said that the 24 organizations stood by the demand for separate electoral roll for new KAAC as per Paragraph-2 of sub-paragraph-7 of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India.

“Also, we demand that the KAAC strictly abide by the Gauhati High Court’s directives regarding the time for its completion i.e. within six months to frame the new KAAC electoral roll,” he said.

The mass demonstration was attended among others by retired IAS JI Ingti Kathar.
