Guwahati, December 4, 2018:

A 65-year-old man allegedly stressed over the NRC as his wife’s name was not included in the complete draft, died of cardiac arrest on Monday in Karimganj.

According to reports, the person identified as Muhibur Rahman of Nayagram in Karimganj had a cardiac arrest as over the past few months he took “excessive stress” on the issue that his wife might be labeled as a foreigner as she was not included in the complete draft NRC.

The incident took place when he went to a local NRC Seva Kendra to know why his wife was excluded from the NRC even when they submitted her 1963 land documents.

He was then asked to submit some other document to claim citizenship of his wife but being over stressed, he had a cardiac arrest and fell at the seva kendra itself.

He was immediately shifted to a hospital but he was declared as brought dead.

The locals have demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for his family and a government job for one of his family members.
