Khelo India: Shivangi Sarma Bags 1st Gold for Assam in 200 Meters’ Freestyle Swimming

Guwahati, January 17, 2020:

Assam’s Shivangi Sarma has bagged the first gold for the home state in 200 meters’ freestyle swimming at the Khelo India Games here in Guwahati on Friday.

Shivangi Sarma bagged the honour in the U- 21 girls swimming event.

It is to be mentioned here that earlier from Assam, Surajit Borgohain’s won gold in the Lawn Bowls game. Surajit Borgohain won Gold in the under-21 Lawn Bowls game, Jinu and Karina won bronze for Assam in the under-21 Girls’ Doubles event.

While Assam boy Akshay Boro has bagged Silver in the 200 meters run under-17 category.

Also, Gangotri Bordoloi has bagged a Gold medal in cycling at the third edition of Khelo India Youth Games 2020. Gangotri won Gold in the 60-km section. Another cyclist, Chayanika Gogoi has bagged Bronze in the same 60-km category.
