GUWAHATI: Assam’s Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) will award acclaimed Bollywood actor Adil Hussain an honourary PhD (Honouris Causa) degree for his contributions to art.
The 57-year-old actor from Assam will be awarded the degree in the 4th convocation of the university here on March 21.
“International film and theatre artiste, ">@_AdilHussain will be awarded Honourary Ph. D. (Honouris Causa) degree at the 4th Convocation of the Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University on 21st March,” tweeted the state-run university on its official handle.
Hussain shared the tweet from the university tweeting, “Deeply Humbled by this recognition by my own State University! This would have made my father very happy as well. Thank you @KKHSOU1.”
Hussain was seen last in Prakash Jha’s drama Pareeksha on ZEE5.
He has been awarded the best actor award at the Indo-German Film Week in Berlin, for two of his performances – Pareeksha and Nirvana Inn.

Earlier, Hussain received national film awards (special jury) at the 2017 National Film Awards for Hotel Salvation and Maaj Rati Keteki.
