KMSS Chief Akhil Gogoi Calls Upon Assamese Society to Fight against the Citizenship Bill

Guwahati, September 26, 2019:

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) firebrand Akhil Gogoi on Thursday urged the Assamese Society to unite and oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 that the government has announced to implement in the month of November.

Addressing the media, Akhil Gogoi said, “Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has the majority in the Lok Sabha and even in the state. So, it is obvious that the Citizenship Bill will be passed in the next session and implemented thereafter.”

“The BJP is all prepared to bring in the Hindu Bangladeshis into the state. They are trying to suppress the regional organizations by introducing the protection acts. These organizations are not prepared to oppose these,” he added.

The KMSS chief also added that a huge threat lies in the state in the name of CAB which will impact the spirit of democracy.

Akhil Gogoi, however, made his stand clear that it will under no circumstances will accept the Citizenship Bill. He added that he would oppose it by every mean of agitation. He also mentioned that the BJP government has divided the people on the basis of religion, caste, and creed.

Gogoi appealed all the regional organizations, political parties, students’ bodies, intellectual groups, civil society organizations and all the member of Assamese Society to join hands in order to fight the CAB.
