Know Your Assam Rifles Mela in Jiribam

Jiribam (Manipur), September 5, 2018:

The Assam Rifles organised “Know Your Assam Rifles” Mela at Guakhal, Bara Bekra of south Jiribam on Wednesday.

The aim of the mela was to educate and instill a sense of motivation among youth to pursue a career in the armed forces and to reach out and energise the civil society and deepen the sense of patriotism.

The Assam Rifles showcased a wide array of modern and sophisticated weapons and equipment for surveillance, bomb disposal etc. Dog display was also organised to showcase capabilities of trained Army dogs.

A Recruitment Awareness Cell was set up to assist and resolve the queries of young minds about joining the armed forces. The youth of the area took keen interest in absorbing the knowledge of various weapons and equipment displayed.

Altogether 1,460 students from ten schools witnessed the event along with 27 ex-servicemen and 400 villagers
