Guwahati, April 23, 2019:

Sitting MP and Independent candidate from Kokrajhar Constituency Naba Kumar Sarania along with his family members cast ballots at Polling station No. 134, Tamulpur Government ME School in Kokrajhar.

After casting his ballot, Sarania expressed confidence of winning the elections with a large margin.

“The people here are confined in BTC and yet to move into the Assam perspective. Some are trying to mislead the people, but they cannot hurt Naba Sarania. People will vote in lakhs this time and they have welcomed me wholeheartedly", he said.

It may be mentioned that Sarania is the first insurgent from ULFA, which had unleashed violence in the state for nearly 30 years, to become an MP and also the first non-Bodo to be elected from Assam's Kokrajhar parliamentary seat. In 2014, Sarania beat his nearest rival, Urkhao Gwra Brahma by over 3 lakh votes.
