Kokrajhar Science College Steps Up Fight against Corona, Kickstarts ‘Free Sanitization Mission’

Kokrajhar, April 27, 2020:

In a bid to create awareness and strict sanitizing initiatives to combat the COVID-19 outbreak, the Science College in Kokrajhar, Assam, has launched a ‘free sanitization mission’ for all the nooks and corners of the town.

At-least five sanitizer sprayers have been deployed in the vicinity in order spread awareness; the drive was kickstarted from the DC office area in Kokrajhar. The sanitizing teams have sprayed all buildings of the DC office as well entry roads of the civil-lines road.

Meanwhile, the Chemistry department of the Science College has also prepared a hand-sanitizer solution to distribute among the needy people. The will be sold at the market at minimal rates.

Till date, 200 litres of hands sanitizer has been prepared in the college premises and we have been informed that several experts from the Chemistry department were engaged in the preparation of the hand-sanitizer concoction.

Principal of the college, Dr RN Sinha told Inside Northeast that the college authority and social welfare cell, in a bid to step up the fight against the coronavirus and create awareness, all leading roads, Government office buildings and residential complexes in Kokrajhar town and its adjoining areas.

Sinha said that the sanitizing job would be free-of-cost and shall also be continued in the near future as the pandemic continues its spread. “The sanitizing initiative will be permanent and will be carried out every single week to  facilitate a disease-free environment in the area”, Dr Sinha added.

Director of BTC education, Jagadish Prasad Brahma launched the mission on Monday and flagged off the drive at the Science College complex while maintaining social distancing norms necessitated by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Brahma, "appreciating" the noble venture initiated by the Science College authorities for the sanitizing initiatives in the area, said that it will be serve as a great boon for the students. He further added that all the school buildings in Kokrajhar under the concerned departments will be sanitized in the days to come.

It is pertinent to mention here that although Kokrajhar district has not reported a single case of the COVID-19, as many as 36 cases have been detected across Assam. One of them, a 66-year-old man from Hailakandi district, died due to complications from the disease.
