Local Congress leader faces party workers’ wrath

Guwahati, November 28, 2018:

The car of a block Congress president in Assam was damaged by party workers and those who were denied party tickets for upcoming panchayat elections.

The Congress workers alleged Noyahat Mahamaya Block Congress president Shabana Akhtar, whose car was damaged, had taken a huge amount of money from some ticket aspirants but they were denied tickets. So, when the Congress workers saw her on Tuesday, they got angry and damaged the car. Later, the police rescued her from the enraged mob and took her to a police station.

The Congress workers alleged the party’s district president and some other Congress workers got shares from the money she took from the ticket aspirants. They lodged an FIR against Akhtar with the Noyahat Police Station.
