Internal politics has begun in Congress before the General Election 2019. Complaints against Wazed Ali Chaudhary, one of the contenders who are in the race for Congress tickets, have resurfaced just before the elections.
As per reports, complaints have again reached the APCC regarding Wajed Ali Chaudhury’s alleged involvement in corruption scams and in view of these recent developments, it is expected that Gul Akhtar will assume the mantle of Congress frontrunner in Dhubri constituency.
A letter dated 03-01-2019 seeking the expulsion of Wazed Ali Chaudhury, MLA and Chairman APCC Minority Department and Uttam Kumar Sarkar, Dhubri for their alleged role in a rampant corruption cum ‘Nomination Scam’ in Panchayat Election, 2018 has resurfaced. For this, they sent a ‘Memorandum against Nomination Scam’ to Congress General Secretary Harish Rawat.
In a letter, the Congress leaders wrote: “All DCC selection Committee of Assam held their meeting within their District area but the Dhubri DCC Selection Committee meeting was held in Guwahati Rajiv Bhawan and subsequently held it in a hotel, Guwahati. Where Sri Uttam Kr. Sarkar, President DCC was authorized to select all the candidates of Unit Member, GP President, AP member and three names panel of ZP members as per their pre-planned of corruption process. Accordingly, Uttam Kr. Sarkar selected candidates as directed by Wazed Ali Chaudhary at his MLA hostel quarter. That, both the leaders collected money illegally from the candidates of GP President and AP member approximately 5-8 lakhs each, unit member approximately Rs. 50,000 each and Zila Parishad member approximately Rs. 10-5 lakhs.”
It had been alleged that a sum of Rs. 5 crores have been taken by the accused in the ‘nomination scam’. Further, tv, print, and social media platforms have already exposed the alleged scam.
