Guwahati (Assam), September 27, 2018:

The probe into the Louis Berger bribery scam has gathered momentum.

A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the office of Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) in Guwahati on Thursday morning.

According to reports, the CBI sleuths subjected some senior officials of the GMDA to interrogation. The team is likely to interrogate several other GMDA officials and a minister of Assam government in the multi-crore rupees scam which took place a few years ago.

Earlier, RTI activist Bhaben Handique had filed a PIL in the Gauhati High Court. The HC later ordered the CBI to probe the scam based on Handique’s PIL.

Back in 2015, officials of the US-based Louis Berger had admitted in a court in the country that they had bribed senior government officials in some countries, including India, to win government projects.
