SILCHAR Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's two-day visit to Barak Valley has ended today and he has announced several schemes for the region.
CM Sarma has asserted to convert Khaspur, Dimasa Kachari kingdom's last capital, to a popular tourist destination and to be built in a Kalakshetra model. Government to take up project on a 100-bigha land to preserve the heritage.
CM has announced several development projects for Silchar Medical College and Hospital as well and said work on the construction of new 500 bedded hospitals will also be completed in two years and the SMCH Cancer hospital will be completed in 2022.
The government has plans to set up all offices under deputy commissioner there and an Rs. 50 crore fund was sanctioned for the same as well.

Cachar deputy commissioner was instructed to manage land for the same purpose within 10 days.
The Avatar Bhawan is to be merged with the Deputy Commissioner’s office as well.
Construction of Mini Secretariat in Barak Valley, an Rs. 116 crore project, will be completed in two years, said CM. The work for the same is to start after Durga Puja.
Silchar Central Jail will be shifted to the Lakshmipur area and Deputy Commissioner was instructed to fix a land accordingly.
