Majuli doctor succumbs to COVID-19 at JMCH

JORHAT: A senior doctor of Majuli became a victim of COVID-19 at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) here today.

The doctor, Ashwini Kumar Dutta, passed away at the hospital around 8 am today after suffering from the dreaded infection for some time. Doctors here suspect he suffered from the second strain of the coronavirus infection.

Dutta was admitted to JMCH on February 23 after testing COVID-19 positive.

The 57-year-old Dutta was working as subdivisional public officer at Kamalabari in Majuli. He was earlier posted as a medical officer at Bhagamukh in Jorhat.

Dutta is the third victim of the disease over the past couple of weeks.
