Lok Sabha MP from Nagaon Pradyut Bordoloi on Tuesday launched into a tirade against the economic policy of the current Narendra Modi-led administration today and claimed that the Budget 2019 has "failed us". Moreover, he said that the Centre must reach out to the 'periphery', the Northeast Indian states, if secessionist tendencies are to be curbed among the dwellers of these frontier regions.
Addressing the Speaker, the MP cast serious doubts over the 2019 Budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and claimed that it is in fact a "facade.". Moreover, he stated that 'Make in India' has been a complete disaster and attacked the alleged 'Hindutva' of the BJP administration. Bordoloi also added that the unemployment in the country is at an all-time high, as per latest reports.
"The great Indian nation thrives on 'pluralism', the great Indian nation is not accelerated by Hindutva", he said.
The MP also said that the people of 'periphery' living in Northeast Indian states can only be reached with 'compassion'. "There is a tendency of secession", he warned, adding that the "periphery has to be protected".
The Congress MP also stated that there is a big crisis looming over the country, that is, the agrarian crisis and alleged that the Modi-led NDA Government has not done enough to address the issue.
"75% of farmers in Assam are saddled with single crop, although Assam Remove featured imagehas the most fertile land", he said, adding that investment is needed to ensure that the sector flourishes in the Northeastern state.
