DHUBRI: Gauripur Police along with a team of the 48th Battalion of CRPF have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a huge quantity of contraband tablets from his possession.
The recovered contraband contains ten thousand illegal Yaba tablets, two bottles of Bolirex Cough Syrup, 200 empty containers, and Rs 2 lakh 20 thousand.
The drug peddler has been identified as Rafiqul Islam.
The police in a coordinated operation with the 'Quick Action Team' of CRPF recovered the contraband drugs which were buried underground inside his house.
According to the police, Islam was selling the contraband tablets from his residence.

On the basis of secret information, an operation was undertaken at Jhagrarpar Pt-IV village by 12 members of the 48th Battalion of CRPF "Quick Action Team" and officials from Gauripur PS commanded by OC Himakshi Nath.
Apparently, Himakshi Nath, OC Gauripur hand over the case to Partha Pratim Gogoi, OC Dhubri.
As per the jurisdiction, the area falls under Dhubri Police Station.
According to police, the accused man has been supplying such addictive substances to teenagers from various regions of the town's suburbs and rural areas for some time.
Locals in the Jhagrarpar area claim that the illegal trade in drugs and addictive substances has ruined the lives of many youths of society by making them addicted.
Cases have been registered against the accused person under The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, said, OC, Partha Pratim Gogoi.
