Man arrested for rape attempt on 15-year-old in Sonitpur

Guwahati (Assam), September 19, 2018:

The Gohpur Police have arrested a person for allegedly attempting to rape a 15-year-old girl in Sonitpur’s Rangapara on Wednesday.

Police said that as per a complaint filed by the girl’s parents the youth identified as Govind Karmakar was arrested from his home in the same area.

As per the allegations by the girl’s family, Govind tried to “rape” their daughter inside their house in Dhulapadung Tea Estate, Rangapara while she was all alone.

The police are currently investigating the matter to find out if this was really a rape attempt or something else. If found guilty, Govind with be booked under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
