Mariani congress MlA Rupjyoti Kurmi is in the news yet once again. This time for no wrong reason but a noble cause. The dynamic MLA cycled all the way from Mariani Thana Chariali to Dergaon Police Training Centre to protest the barbaric rape of a woman police official by her colleague.
On reaching the Police Training Centre in Dergaon, Kurmi lit earthen lamp and incense sticks in front of the main entrance. Kurmi later said that if the sentinels are not safe than what would be the faith of the common people. Kurmi also criticized the government for failing to safeguard the women of the state as there have been instances of rape at regular intervals.
