A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has convicted four rebels of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in a mass killings case of 2014.
In December 2014, the NDFB insurgents had fired indiscriminately upon the villagers of Santipur village under Rakhakmari Police outpost in Sonitpur district, killing six persons and injuring two others.
In this connection, the NIA, which probed the incident, registered a case under various Sections of IPC and Arms Act.
The charge-sheet was filed by NIA on July 22, 2015 against four arrested accused persons – Sanju Bordoloi alias Sibigiri, Bishnu Narzary alias N Berema, Ahoy Basumutary alias B Bujumbura and Nitul Daimary alias D Naihab. All of them belong to NDFB.
On completion of trial, the NIA’s special court in Guwahati pronounced its verdict on Tuesday convicting all the accused persons. The hearing on sentence shall take place on September 7 next.
