GUWAHATI: Demanding unconditional release of disbanded National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) Founding President Ranjan Daimary's release from jail, hundreds came out to stage protest in Udalguri's Nalbari Field, including his sister Anjali Daimary as an initiative of Ex NDFB United Forum.
"The first condition of Bodoland Peace Accord was to make peace and the government has failed to fulfil the very same thing. Where is peace today I want to ask? The peace would be when Ranjan Daimary will be released along with his associates," said Anjali Daimary speaking with the media persons.
"Ranjan Daimary never wanted to have luxurious jail term that he is being shifted to a guest house turned into a special jail. Nor our Bodo people. We all want him to be set free and hence we have gathered here today demanding the same irrespective of political allegiance," Anjali Daimary added.
Over 5000 people from Udalguri district have joined the protest and raised slogans to release Ranjan Daimary and other jailed 50 NDFB leaders and implement the BTR Accord clause by clause.

"We are not asking for something different. In the accord itself it was mentioned to release all the jailed NDFB leaders then why are they not releasing them? If they were unable to do so then why have they mentioned it in the first place?" asked a protesting Bodo union leader.
"We demand the unconditional release of Ranjan Daimary and other leaders," he added further.
Militant leader Ranjan Daimary, who was sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment, was the mastermind behind the serial bomb blasts in Guwahati on October 30, 2008, which had claimed over a hundred lives and injured over four hundred people.
Daimary bail plea was rejected by the Gauhati High Court in April this year,
Daimary was granted interim bail for about a month on January 24, 2020, to take part in Peace Talks in New Delhi for the Bodo Accord.
Currently, he is at 10 APBn Headquarter in Kahilipara, Guwahati and soon to be shifted to a VIP cell in Chirang.
