NEW DELHI: The third round of meeting between incumbent chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) central leadership, to finalise the next Assam CM, has come to an end.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Sarma said that a meeting of the BJP legislature party will be held in Guwahati tomorrow, where the next chief minister’s name will be announced.
Earlier in the day, two rounds of meeting were held between Sonowal, Sarma and the BJP parliamentary board at the residence BJP national president JP Nadda.
Union home minister Amit Shah, JP Nadda and BJP national secretary BL Santosh were present in the meeting.
Chief ministerial aspirant duo, Sonowal and Sarma left for New Delhi in a private charter flight this morning to discuss the CM’s row.
They were accompanied by Naharkatia MLA Taranga Gogoi, who is known as shadow of Sarma and Tingkhong MLA Bimal Bora.
