Guwahati, February 9, 2019:

Despite tight security and imposition of Section 144 in the city, the members of the Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) waved black flags to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy at Machkhowa in Guwahati on Saturday morning while he was on his way to the airport.

The police have made efforts to stop the protestors but could not prevent them from waving the black flags to mark their protest against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

Police personnel arrested some members of the AJYCP. They are Pradip Kalita (President of Guwahati Committee), Krishna Roy (Secretary), Inamul Haque (President of North Guwahati), Sabir Ahmed (Information and communication secretary of the Central Committee), Jitumoni Kalita- a member of Central Committee and Vice President of Gauhati University.
