Guwahati: Three women bikers on a 7-day-tour across the North East -- Nirmali Nath from Assam, Onen Nenty from Nagaland, and Rosalynn Lushai from Mizoram -- have finally accomplished their mission.
Their 7-day tour was formally flagged off on April 3 at Guwahati as they geared themselves to ride across the region under the theme ‘Breaking Stereotype and Redefining North East.’ Seven Sisters Holidays was the event partner.
The trio of women bikers reached their last destination -- Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh -- yesterday.
Their shared love for riding bikes has birthed the concept of the North East Tour.
In an interaction with media, Onen Nenty said, “we want to show that women in North East are not just sitting at home. We are not just women who are comfortable in the kitchen, we want to think beyond that, we are coming out of our comfort zones.”

"We have the capability to do everything if you follow your passion, follow your dream, everything is possible.”
Onen further added that they were greeted with warm hospitality of the local people everywhere they went.

Nirmali Nath also echoed the same sentiments. “I get goosebumps whenever we are being received- local people giving us water, fruits, food, we got so much love and support from everyone with people hosting us, feeding us and giving us shelter.”
She said the roads were challenging while stating that “there are good roads, bad roads, off roads, and no roads” but nature, landscape and the warmth of people, she added were “amazing.”
While Nirmali and Rosalynn Lushai have both travelled more than 1 lakh kilometers on bikes in the past, Onen is known for undertaking a solo bike tour across Nagaland.
After wrapping up the challenging tour, Onen declared that the women folk of the Northeast Indian states are 'special.'
"Well, we have done it! That's what I wanted to say for a very long time. To kick off my experience in this tour, I want to make a remark and this is what I want to say "The women folks in the northeast are special."
She further added that the tour was a success not because of money and power but because "we have done this amazing tour with willpower, with our heart, and with our soul."
"I can't come out with a proper line using the English word to thank all our supporters and our people from all the 7 sister states. I will be forever grateful to you all," she said, adding, "Thank you all so much, may we live with the same passion and the zeal till death do us apart."
The 28-year-old was also all praises for her co-bikers. "Well, my ride was much more meaningful and much more fun because these two ladies, Nirmali and Rosalynn have shown and taught me so many valuable lessons, which will stay in my heart forever."
She also thanked the "almighty for keeping us safe throughout the ride and to all our sponsors and our support system team from Guwahati, without which our ride would not have been possible.
