Mizoram “chicken kid” appreciated at his School

Mizoram kid Derek C Lalchhanhima, who became an overnight sensation when a picture of his went viral on social media, has received even more plaudits for his humane act (and rightfully so). In the latest development, the kind-hearted kid has been appreciated in his school St. Pio, Sairang. A picture of the kid holding a certificate and flowers, with a beaming smile on his face, has now surfaced on social media.

The 6-year-old had accidentally run over a neighbor’s chicken with his bicycle but took it to a hospital. A picture of the child with a chicken in one hand and a ten-rupee note in the other, originally posted by Sanga Says, has gone massively viral with over 1 lakh reactions and 10,000 comments.

As per reports, the child had urged his father to take the chick to the hospital, but when his father asked him to do it himself; he did so with ten rupees. The infamous picture that took the internet by storm was shot by a nurse at the hospital.

The picture has warmed the hearts of millions across the nation and beyond as it shows how the compassion of a child.

"He's always been a rather unique kid," says his father.
