Mizoram to provide COVID-19 vaccine to Myanmar refugees

AIZAWL: The Mizoram government is currently planning to vaccinate Myanmar refugees, who are currently taking shelter in the state.

According to reports,  Myanmar nationals are gearing up to vaccinate all the refugees who are eligible to get.

Mizoram is currently sheltering over 12,700 Myanmar refugees in different districts. 

According to the state police’s record on Thursday, a total of 12,736 Myanmar nationals are currently taking refuge in different parts of Mizoram. 

Most Myanmar nationals are mostly from Chin state and they share the same ethnicity with the Mizos. 

Earlier, Chief Minister Zoramthanga urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide asylum to the Myanmar nationals on humanitarian grounds.
